Why should animals have rights? We hear about people dying everyday in the
media, but what about animals? More than a billion animals are killed every
year in the United States. The number of animals abused everyday is higher than
this. This goes unnoticed by the general public. The government hides what
really happens to animals for the safety of its people. Even though animals can't speak, they do have feelings just like the rest of us. They feel afraid, they feel lonely, they feels sadness. They suffer through harsh conditions and abuse solely for human use. Animals don't have to be treated as equals to humans but should at least be considered. They deserve to live free of pain, suffering, and exploitation. If people took a stand against animal cruelty, we could serve as the voice for these mistreated animals.

"We know we cannot be kind to animals until we stop exploiting them -- exploiting animals in the name of science, exploiting animals in the name of sport, exploiting animals in the name of fashion, and yes, exploiting animals in the name of food." |
